Brooklyn!

We live in Brooklyn, but spend very little time here other than sleeping. We've made so many plans to do fun things here, but with our schedules and being adults we seem to let life get in the way. Not to say we haven't been to these places, but we haven't soaked them in. So, we decided that we would take the day and spend it wandering Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo and such. The weather forecast was a little deceptive, but that didn't stop us! After a slow waking this morning, we made our way there to find gray skies and cold air. It was still so much fun to sit and take in where we live and how far we've come. I managed to get a few good shots while we were out and about!

Also, check out my website, www.amandafehring.com, it is newly renovated!

Fall Tour

We enjoyed the cold day by going to look at the fall foliage from the Rockefeller Observation Deck. This was the first time we had gone to the top since we've moved to the city. Needless to say, we had planned on spending less time there and more time in Central Park, but alas a group of 200 people pushed everyone back. After spending what seemed like all day waiting in lines to get up there, we finally made it. We greatly enjoyed the glory of the cityscape and the colors of Central Park. After grabbing some late lunch, we made it into Central Park as the sun was setting. Unfortunately, didn't get as much of the park as we had hoped today, but maybe I can sneak  back up there this week. Here is what we did get though. Enjoy!

Exhibits!

I have had the opportunity to part of two separate art exhibitions here in NYC these past few months and I couldn't have been more excited to have my photographs being displayed on the walls of a NYC gallery. To some, it might not seem like a great achievement to only have a few photographs included, but for a small town girl from Montana, that's a huge step forward for me to continue doing what I love. For those of you who don't know, I am working toward building my own photography business here and these exhibits have helped me become more established in a city where every person with a camera is a photographer. Over the course of the next few months, I am actually setting up a website where everyone can then purchase prints. This is also a super exciting new step for me.

Anyway, let's get back on track. The first three images are from the first exhibit. The three were chosen by a panel of judges and included in the Story of the Creative Gallery.

These next images are from my latest gallery inclusion, Creative Rising. Only one image could be included and I actually got to choose this time. This gallery was a little less chaotic, which was a relief. Along with the digital display there was a projection of it onto a building outside.

Thank you all for reading and the support. I couldn't do it without all of you and especially my family who have to deal with me while I build a business!

Labor Day Adventures!

Spent Labor Day watching a little bit of the West Indies Day Parade in the morning, beers at Pier 59, a little shopping in the rain and a a sunset ride on the ferry. It was a fun day off! Here is a little taste of our day. Hope you all enjoyed your day off from work too!

Look at this little guy!

Finally, after what seemed to be weeks of my laptop malfunctioning and getting the blue screen of death twice I was finally able to finish editing the most adorable three month old baby. He was a difficult little one to make smile, but his cuteness made up for that. I gave you a sneak peek of him after the shoot, but I wanted to share a few more with you.

Central Park Fun!

Today, I did my first New York family/baby session in Central Park. It was so much fun! Perfect weather, found a nice little spot and worked with the cutest baby. I always forget how challenging babies can be when it comes to getting their pictures taken. This little guy was no exception. He was very serious most of the time, but we managed to crack a few smiles. Here is a sneak peek before edits!

New Series

I have been trying to come up with a series to do that is different from all the usual things, such as people. I decided after going through my images a few days ago that I shoot a lot from the same perspective on different things. I also saw that my Montana photographs had similar lines to what I have taken here in NYC. So, I went through and have made several matched images from both places and have enjoyed seeing the cityscape and landscape similarities and differences. I have also been working on "painting" my black-and-white fine art images for a different series. Guess I get a lot accomplished with a lot going on. Anyway, here is a little taste of both series. Hope you enjoy! Keep in mind this is the rough series and nothing is completely finished.
